‘The Blue Heeler Film Festival’ sponsored by Bengalla Mining Company, is coming back to Muswellbrook for its eighth year and entries are FREE and now open!
This family friendly event, supported by Muswellbrook Shire Council, will be held at Muswellbrook Cinema, on Saturday 30 October 2021 and is sponsored by the Muswellbrook Shire Council and Bengalla Mining Company. Successful entries will be screened alongside live music performances and local entertainment with food and drinks available.
The theme of this year’s festival is ‘DON’T PANIC!’ in the context of living in a pandemic. Entries are open to films of any genre, that run no longer than seven minutes. With two categories, the Blue Heeler Film Festival encourages film makers, emerging and experienced, to enter and celebrate the craft of storytelling.
Categories:
Secondary School – Entries of filmmakers aged 14-18 years
Open Category – Entries of filmmakers aged 18 years and over
Prizes:
Successful entries in the Open Category will vie for the $10,000 first prize while the Secondary School winner will receive a $5,000 first prize.
In conjunction with the University of Newcastle School of Creative Industries, the Blue Heeler Film Festival will be providing a number of workshops to local high schools. These workshops aim to educate and encourage young film makers in the Muswellbrook Region on how to make their short film dreams a reality.
