Double Trouble at Girls School Cinema with a Spielberg Double and More…

The team behind FRINGE WORLD Festival and Rooftop Movies has announced the final program for Girls School Cinema, complete with throw-back movie favourites, a double romance screening with free unlimited Tim Tams and an 80s dress up competition!

Girls School Cinema is the most unique winter pop-up cinema experience in Perth. Housed in the stunning castle-like building in East Perth, it features a revamped and ultra-cosy bar and lounge where you can enjoy delicious mulled wine or head to the courtyard for some pre-movie marshmallow toasting.

The fourth and final program of the season features new blockbusters like; Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood and IT Chapter Two. The cinema is known for its double feature and marathon screenings, this program being no excepting with an Iconic 80s Double, featuring Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Pretty in Pink, a Steven Spielberg Double, featuring E.T. The Extra Terrestrial and Jurassic Park, and an epic Back to the FutureMarathon.

Make it a date! Whether it’s with that special someone or a girls night in, the Loved Up Double on September 27 promises to be the perfect date night. Featuring the romantic classics, An Officer and a Gentleman and Ghost, this double feature will have you feeling the love with free unlimited Tim Tams and a Swayze inspired pottery wheel!

Bust out the spandex! Raid your closets or hit up the op shops because Girls School Cinema will be giving away a double pass to the first program of Rooftop Movies to the best 80s outfit at the Back to the Future Marathon. To go in the draw, tag @Girls School Cinema in a picture of your outfit at the marathon on Instagram.

Thank god it’s Friday ... Calling all thrill-seekers and horror junkies. Girls School Cinema is taking Black Friday to the next level on September 13 at a back-to-back screening of horror classics, Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th Part II. Girls School Cinema will fill the iconic halls with thrilling and spine tingling surprises, with special appearances of Jason from Friday the 13th himself.

At Girls School Cinema, the fun starts way before the movie does! Movie-goers can arrive from 6pm to toast marshmallows in the stunning courtyard, or kick back and enjoy Mack Daddy’s New York Slice’s gloriously cheesy pizzas in the luxe lounge before the movie.

Girls School Cinema runs until 12 October every Wednesday to Sunday. Tickets are on sale now and start at just $17 for standard admission.

What is the Old Perth Girls School? The historic 1930s Old Perth Girls School building is iconic in its ‘Egyptian Art-Deco’ grandeur (it’s a thing apparently – check out the pyramids on the roof!). The castle-like building operated as a school for thirty years and then a Police centre for fifty years. Some remember going to school there. Others remember going there for traffic branch business. A few remember going there to visit major crime and the dog squad. Some of them are still in prison.

Earlier this year, Girls School hosted the FRINGE WORLD Festival run-away success event A Midnight Visit. Part choose-your-own-adventure, part theatre, part film-set, part playground; A Midnight Visit transformed 34 rooms into an unbelievable fantasy world, introducing a whole new audience to the area.

Girls School Cinema is located at 2 Wellington Street. How to get there
