Heretica is built to close the visibility gap, and open up opportunities to connect and create with other filmmakers and creatives, those who didn’t have access to before.
Heretica founder Madison Dell’Aquila writes about their vision for the industry shifting launch of a new platform.
I believe education and knowledge is the key to creating a better and more compassionate world. I guess that's why we get into filmmaking in the first place, to be seen and heard.
The more access you have to the wonderful artists, filmmakers, creatives around you, the more jobs will be accessible, and yes of course the more voices will be heard, but I believe it goes much deeper than this. It goes so deep that Art has been something we as humans have craved and completed for as long as we’ve existed. So why is it still seen as a hobby and not a job?
Heretica, whilst bridging diversity gaps on sets and within our creative industry is also validating all Crew and Recruiters on there that art roles are just as important, this site is useful and urgent for the growth and sustainability of our creative communities. It’s essential.
At our launch, the root of this event aims to celebrate and connect emerging and established crew/creatives together. Because we are a highly collaborative platform, Heretica is truly built for the industry by the industry and aims to continuously expand our reach and influence throughout the Arts in Australia.
As we approach our launch on 23 July 2026, we have received a few enquiries on whether attendees are able to bring their male partners and sign up, whether they can also be a part of the movement and join Heretica? We want to make it clear that this is an industry wide initiative and everyone who is part of it is helping the industry become more inclusive and accessible, we are not extending the gap, we are closing it.
At the event we have over 10 artists and counting contributing their work, visual and written to Thursday’s event, we are extremely proud to have these artist’s collaboration from the get-go!
Heretica launches on Thursday 23rd July.
