Conquering Breast Cancer asks us to imagine a world without cancer

Imagine a world without cancer… Conquering Breast Cancer is a compelling social impact film that inspires us to do just that.  Asking: Can Australia rise to the challenge of conquering breast cancer?

In a country where breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the most common cancer among women. Breast cancer is often seen as a success story, with 5-year survival rates sitting at over 90%. But until there’s a cure, breast cancer is far from ‘solved’.

Presenter Sue Collins takes the audience beyond these statistics to discover how remarkable Australians are changing the world.  Weaving together powerful survivor stories, including Olympian Raelene Boyle AM, MBE, basketball champion Paul Maley, and podcaster Dr Charlotte Tottman.  Supported by insights from leading medical experts, including Prof Bruce Mann, Prof Kelly-Anne Phillips and A/Prof Christine Chaffer, that highlight the importance of prevention, early detection, treatment, research, clinical trials and the psychological impact this disease has on survivors.   Each story challenges complacency and encourages us to come together and strive for this health moonshot.

Conquering Breast Cancer is the third instalment of the Conquering Cancer documentary series, the film also features activists Pratika Lal (Founder, Treasure Chest Charity) and Sarah Powell (Inherited Cancers Australia) and highlights both the progress made and the work still to be done to find a cure and ensure that no more Australians lose their lives to this disease.

Produced by multi-award-winning filmmakers and impact film pioneers Mike Hill and Sue Collins, Conquering Breast Cancer boasts a treasure trove of incredible stories captured across Australia, from cities and regional centres to remote communities.

This cinematic film is a powerful call to action for an unprecedented push in prevention, greater access to life-saving care, and crucial investments in cutting-edge treatments, targeted early detection programs, and research.

Dr Cleola Anderiesz, CEO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, said, “The film highlights both the incredible progress we’ve made and the ambition required to go further, brought to life through powerful personal stories of those impacted by breast cancer. Conquering breast cancer will rely on continued investment in world-class breast cancer research – transforming breakthroughs into a future with Zero Deaths from breast cancer.”

Lyn Swinburne AO, Founder of Breast Cancer Network Australia, said, “Conquering Breast Cancer is a must-see for all Australians. You will be informed by the science and at the same time moved and inspired by the personal stories”.
