HoneyBomb Seeks Support for She Came from the Moon

PRESS RELEASE

From HoneyBomb:

"We are thrilled to announce the launch of a crowdfunding campaign for our second feature film, She Came From The Moon. Following the unexpected success of our first feature Stubbornly Here (winner of the WA Screen Culture Award for Best Narrative Feature Under $1m, and nominated for the AWGIE for Best Feature Screenplay), we’re using that momentum and want to keep making whatever we can while we have the chance!"

Written and directed by Taylor Broadley (Stubbornly Here), She Came From The Moon is a surreal dramedy about learning that tomorrow still exists, no matter what

you’ve been through. It follows a character jumping between abusive relationships and finding how to get sober of it all.

It’s that kind of movie you’d find on VHS in 2001 and not really know what the vibe is going to be until you’re already too deep in it. Equal parts Donnie Darko and equal parts Good Will Hunting. It’s a Mallrats-style slacker flick about some down on their luck kitchen-hands pulling scams, until it becomes Silent Hill. I Saw The TV Glow in an old theatre with a makeshift satellite. The team is in the final stages of pre-production getting ready for cameras to roll in the last week of July and production will continue until the last week of August, with the finished film slated for a mid-late 2026 release.

Teaser art is available on the final page of this press release.

About Us

HoneyBomb is an independent film production company operating out of Perth, Australia and focusing on narrative films made sustainably and healthily. Run by award winning writer/director Taylor Broadley, HoneyBomb made its debut with the feature film Stubbornly Here in 2024. A lo-fi, coming-of-age feature that was the recipient of the WA Screen Culture Award for Best Narrative Feature and was nominated for the AWGIE for Best Feature Screenplay. Stubbornly Here will be making its way to Amazon Prime in

2025 and in the meantime, HoneyBomb has completed two more short films; the endearing The Coal County Annual Sword Fight, and melancholy Exorcise Me (still in post-production). HoneyBomb strives to make filmmaking a healthy environment that

takes care of their workers to the same standard as any other industry. Shoot dates are not scheduled to run longer than 10 hours and any member of the cast and crew reserves the right to reject an overtime request.

HoneyBomb wants to make sure their cast and crews have a positive experience making something they can feel passionate about and advocate strongly for the

wellbeing of arts workers. Their follow up feature film She Came From The Moon goes into production in late 2025.

Why Crowdfund and where does it go?

Donations will be used to help us pay final costs for locations, props, catering, festival submissions and post-production! Being an entirely independent production made with passion, we’ve been able to shoulder the vast majority of costs ourselves for the love of what we’re making. We just need a little help getting over the line and to give the film the best chance possible! Australians deserve to see Australian stories that don’t feel like stereotypes. Films that speak to them and entertain them, that they can be proud of.

Your support would help us show Australian films can belong on the indie world stage! We can’t wait to show you what this crew can do, and any support would mean the world to us.

How can you help?

  • Exposure: We are seeking write-ups in publications, interviews, social media reposting, and word of mouth chatter to really help get the word out about our crowdfunding campaign and the film in general.
  • Donations: Any and all donations go a long way in helping us make it through production and subsequently make sure people get to see it.
  • Partnerships: We’re open to organisations and sponsors interested in jumping on board with production to support us long term and are willing to have those conversations.

The Campaign

The crowdfunding campaign will run through the Australian Cultural Fund from the 5th of July to the 1st of September. Overlapping our full production period to provide ample chance for people to donate. The crowdfund is currently open for donations at the link below:
