MUBI, the global film distributor, streaming service and production company, has shared details of their continued partnership with independent distributor, Madman Entertainment, in Australia and New Zealand, which will see Madman sub-distribute key titles theatrically in the region.
Madman will release the Cannes breakout hit and Queer Palm winner Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair) on August 6 in Australia and August 20 in New Zealand. The film is led by Emmy-winning® actress Hannah Einbinder (Hacks) and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, Sex Education, Scoop), and also stars Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kevin McDonald, Quintessa Swindell, and Jack Haven. The film is produced by Plan B.
Madman will later release winner of the Cannes Best Director prize Fatherland and winner of the Cannes Best Actor award Coward, as well as the Berlinale selections Rosebush Pruning and Rose.
Paweł Pawlikowski’s (Ida, Cold War) acclaimed Fatherland had its World Premiere in Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where Pawlikowski won Best Director. Written by Pawlikowski and Henk Handloegten, the film stars Academy Award®-nominated Sandra Hüller (The Zone of Interest, Anatomy of a Fall), Hanns Zischler (Munich, Germany Year 90 Nine Zero, Kings of the Road), August Diehl (A Hidden Life, Inglourious Basterds), Devid Striesow (All Quiet On The Western Front), and Anna Madeley (Patrick Melrose, All Creatures Great And Small).
Lukas Dhont’s Cannes competition title Coward, stars Emmanuel Macchia and Valentin Campagne who were awarded the Best Actor prize at Cannes for their performances. Directed by Dhont and co-written with Angelo Tijssens, the film is a WWI drama about queer love in the midst of the horrors of war. MUBI released Dhont’s previous Oscar® -nominated film Close in select territories.
Rosebush Pruning is the latest feature from Karim Aїnouz (Motel Destino, Firebrand, Invisible Life) and one of the most audacious, conversation-starting films of the year. The film brings together an A-list cast in a bold, unpredictable portrait of a wealthy family, where privilege, desire and long-buried secrets collide. The film stars Callum Turner (Masters of the Air, The Boys in the Boat), Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six, Zola), Jamie Bell (All of Us Strangers, Rocketman), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus, Euphoria), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In, MotherFatherSon) with Tracy Letts (Lady Bird, Ford vs Ferrari), Elle Fanning (Sentimental Value, A Complete Unknown) and Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl, The Naked Gun).
Sandra Hüller (Fatherland) also stars in the Berlinale Competition title Rose, directed by Markus Schleinzer and written by Schleinzer and Alexander Bom. Set in the early 17th Century, the film follows a mysterious soldier, a woman disguised as a man, who appears in a secluded Protestant village claiming to be the heir to a long-abandoned farmstead. Hüller won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Actress at Berlinale for her performance.
