The official trailer for the forthcoming feature documentary ANONYMOUS CLUB has been released today, ahead of the film’s national theatrical release in March 2022.

Filmed over three years, ANONYMOUS CLUB gives unprecedented, intimate access to the private life of Courtney Barnett, an artist acclaimed by audiences all over the world. This innovative and stylised 16mm feature documentary follows a paradoxically introverted performer and anti-influencer, who, at the height of success, is ready to walk away. Long-time collaborator Danny Cohen’s feature documentary reveals a woman who finds power in sharing her vulnerability. Recording her innermost thoughts on a dictaphone, Courtney begins her slow acceptance of Danny Cohen’s camera. This unique filming process mirrors Courtney’s gradual search for purpose and emergence as an artist embracing her place in the world.
ANONYMOUS CLUB had its world premiere at this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival and went on to screen to audiences at the Brisbane International Film Festival and the Sydney Film Festival. The trailer launch coincides with the release of Courtney Barnett’s latest album Things Take Time, Take Time out now on CD, cassette, vinyl and available on all streaming services.
ANONYMOUS CLUB is written and directed by Danny Cohen, produced by Philippa Campey and Samantha Dinning, and edited by Ben Hall.
ANONYMOUS CLUB is a Film Camp production, financed with the assistance of the MIFF Premiere Fund, Film Victoria, Screen Australia, The Post Lounge, Mind The Gap Film Finance and Film Art Media, alongside private investment. The film is being distributed in Australia by Film Art Media, while Berlin-based specialist feature doc sales agent Monoduo Films is handling the rest of the world. Acclaimed distributor Oscilloscope Films, established by the Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch in 2008, is looking after North American distribution.
