Sneaky Films' Bunny Rabbit to have its world premiere at the Chattanooga Film Festival

Independent production company Sneaky Films is proud to announce the official selection of BUNNY RABBIT (formerly BUNNY) at the 13th annual Chattanooga Film Festival in southeastern Tennessee, USA. Known as the Sundance of the South, the festival marks the start of the film's international life under its new title, and a significant milestone for Sneaky Films. In what’s shaping up to be an exciting June, BUNNY RABBIT has also been officially selected for the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival, marking the film’s Queensland premiere.

Directed by James Branson and produced by Taylor ThompsonBUNNY RABBIT is set in the aftermath of a climate-collapsed Australia and follows a young woman who roams the ruins of a world she never got to grow up in. In a world of old books and B-movies, Bunny Rabbit is now alone, living in a shack she once shared with her father. With supplies growing scarce, there is nothing left to hunt except other people. What begins as a simple survival story becomes a meditation on unapologetic self-discovery and feminine brutality.

Made with precision and purpose, BUNNY RABBIT is built from Sneaky Films’ lean, high-craft production model designed to deliver uncompromising cinematic experiences across the world. The Chattanooga selection marks the first step in its international rollout with Independent South Australian distributor Elusive Fish.

The film stars Kate Wilson, in her debut as Bunny Rabbit, Saxon Cook as The Hitchhiker and Ontrei as The Intruder, with Australian country music star Andy Gollidge making his dramatic debut in the role of The Father. The brainchild of writer and director James Branson, this post-apocalyptic psychological thriller includes a twist.

"Calling the film BUNNY RABBIT felt right the moment we started showing it to international audiences," said writer/director James Branson. "Bunny Rabbit is a character who's been forced to grow teeth, and the title needed to carry that same edge. Chattanooga has a real appetite for films that don't behave themselves, so it feels like exactly the right room for this version of the film to land in."

Producer Taylor Thompson added, "BUNNY RABBIT is about a young woman whose solitude is a source of strength instead of a wound, a quiet rebuttal to the male loneliness story dominating the headlines. Unfortunately her solitude doesn't go uninterrupted for long. Fortunately, US and QLD audiences will soon get a front row seat to what happens because of it. We can't think of a better place to let her loose internationally than the Chattanooga Film Festival and back home in Queensland where audiences can watch the film for the first time under the stars at Winton’s Royal Open Air Theatre.”

Chattanooga Film Festival will run from the 18th - 21st of June, with both in person and online screenings and forums featuring films from across the globe. BUNNY RABBIT will also screen at the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival on Monday, the 26th June at 9pm in Winton, QLD with the festival running until the 5th of July. BUNNY RABBIT will screen on the 19th June at the Chattanooga Film Festival, with a virtual watch party to be held on the evening of June 23rd US time / June 24th AEST.
