The ReelGood Film Festival Is Back at the Lido!

PRESS RELEASE

After a brief hiatus, The ReelGood Film Festival is back! On Saturday, April 22, Lido Cinemas will host a jam-packed day of 22 world-class short films by homegrown Australian filmmakers.

RGFF presents its program in palatable 25-minute sessions every hour with 35 minutes in between where punters are invited to grab a drink on the Lido rooftop, listen to DJs, snack at the bar and chat all things film.

This year’s program continues its focus on supporting the emerging Australian filmmaker community, featuring some of the best up-and-coming talent going around. #RGFF23 films include Sundance Audience Award-winning director Noora Niasari (Tâm), Madeleine Gottlieb (You and Me, Before and After), Jordan Giusti (Reptile) and Oscar nominee Lachlan Pendragon (An Ostrich Told Me the World was Fake and I Think I Believe It).

From new festival director, Chris Luscri: “RGFF continues to be an exceptional platform to discover the best of Australia’s emerging film talent. We’ve got many carefully curated screenings and talks spread out over an entire day, providing the ideal space for vital discussions and encounters. We are incredibly excited to present this year’s exceptional program to our growing audiences, representing some of the best short-form filmmaking our nation offers.”

More than half of the 22 films are nominated for awards, including Best On-Screen Talent, Best Off-Screen Talent, Best Documentary and the coveted Best Film. There is also the Audience Choice award too.

From Darius Family, festival producer: “Getting to showcase work from some super talented filmmakers to a packed and enthusiastic cinema is incredibly rewarding. Plus, nothing beats watching shorts while you sink beers with mates!

“We’re super excited to return to Lido Cinemas, who have graciously hosted us for the past four years. We certainly give their rooftop bar a good run for its money!”

Blake Curtis, festival producer: “We are grateful to have received funding from Boroondara City Council, enabling us to value-add to the festival. I think that the punters and filmmakers alike are going to have a great time as we make our return this year”.

Take advantage of the chance to see some of Australia’s best-emerging film talent at The ReelGood Film Festival!
