Set Your Senses Alight at EverNow: A Festival During Kambarang

PRESS RELEASE

Light up your senses, reconnect with Country and rediscover nature over one weekend of celebration with EverNow.

This spectacular new festival is set to inspire locals and visitors during Kambarang – the wildflower season of birth, new life and renewal in the Noongar calendar.

From 4 – 9 October, EverNow will transform three iconic central Boorloo/Perth locations with three free major after-dark presentations reflecting WA’s unique environment and culture.

These include the return of the awe-inspiring nocturnal spectacle Boorna Waanginy: The Trees Speak to light up Kings Park with even more spectacular 3D projections telling stories of WA’s beautiful South-West and the culture that has nurtured this land for millennia.

EverNow will be a rich dreamscape where audiences can experience the magic and wonder of Western Australia. Grounded on Noongar Boodjar, the festival is inspired by our State’s rich biodiversity, creativity and First Nations people’s connection to this place – now and forever.

Visitors can look forward to an extraordinary weekend of celebration featuring three accessible and free elements:

Song Circle, Supreme Court Gardens, Wed 4 – Sun 8 Oct
This grounding and welcoming experience features live Noongar song and dance in a future-focused immersive wonderland created by the extraordinarily imaginative Boomerang and Spear team.

Fire Gardens, Government House Gardens, Thur 5 – Sun 8 Oct
International flame experts Compagnie Carabosse transform Government House Gardens into a magical world of leaping flames, shadow and wonder.

Boorna Waanginy: The Trees Speak, Kings Park, Fri 6 – Mon 9 Oct
The acclaimed Boorna Waanginy (Perth Festival 2017 and 2019) returns bigger and better than ever, transforming Kings Park with spectacular high-tech 3D projections, animation, sound and lighting effects. Initially presented in late summer (Bunuru), this production will be reborn full of new stories of a new season (Kambarang).

Guided by Perth Festival’s Noongar Advisory Circle, EverNow reflects the circle as a vital aspect of Noongar culture that informs a deep connection to life cycles and ceremonial practices, the continuation and sharing of knowledge from one generation to the next.

EverNow is a new homegrown event for the people of Western Australia and to showcase our unique Noongar Boodjar (Country) to the world. It is proudly supported by the WA Government, with the State-owned event presented by Tourism WA and produced by Perth Festival’s out-of-season Special Projects arm. Previous major free events produced by Perth Festival include Place Des Anges (2012), The Giants (2015), Boorna Waanginy: The Trees Speak (2017 and 2019), Highway to Hell (2020) and High Voltage (2023).
